About Us

Welcome to Silverlicious Gems website.
My name is Ailsa and I live in Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District. I love the clean modern designs of the new designers which inspired me to start silversmithing. As a result of this I have attended courses at Cartmel School, the Brewery arts centre and a weekend course in West Sussex. I have now been creating and selling my own jewellery for five years.

I handcraft one off or very limited edition pieces of solid silver jewellery some incorporating genuine gemstones, beads or cut stones. The gemstones I buy are the highest quality I can find that are only available in small quantities which is why my designs are limited as I may be able to source the same stone but in a different size and cut. All my jewellery is stamped 925 or if over 7gms is sent to Sheffield Assay Office where it is tested and hallmarked plus has my own makers mark applied.
The earrings I make range in lengths from delicate small studs and drops to what I refer to as shoulder dusters as they are long enough to touch your shoulders when you lean your head to the side. I like earrings to be of a comfortable weight so they don’t weigh your ear lobes down.

Genuine gemstones are cold to the touch so when first put on you will notice this but they do warm up with your body temperature. I think jewellery should express your personality, be eye catching, make you feel great, be fun and easy to wear. I think luxury packaging is a must when giving a gift to others or treating yourself.

I hope you enjoy looking at my jewellery and I am happy to hear any comments so please feel free to contact me via my email sales@silverliciousgems.co.uk

THE HANGMAN AND BLACKSMITH
I have joined forces with Sue Bailey another Silver Artisan to sell our jewellery at Music Festivals and Fairs. We met during the silversmithing course at Cartmel and became close friends, we have great fun at the events and our contrasting designs give us a unique stand. The name is a tongue in cheek take on our addresses as I live at Gallows Hill I am The Hangman and Sue lives at The Old Smithy so she is The Blacksmith.
I live in the Lake District and am probably more inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me every day than I am aware of.
I only create designs I really like and which I would wear myself. I hope you like them too.
Enjoy looking at my creations.
